  • Why is Lepe Country Park a great place to visit?

    • At Lepe Country Park you can push your child on the swing with a nice sea breeze in your face and a great view over the Solent! I don’t know about you, but to me that is real luxury!
    • The playground is fantastic for children up to 9ish. You will find swings, a climbing frame, a playhouse, balance beams and picnic tables. Everything is made of wood which makes it fit in nicely with the natural surroundings.
    • There is a big field to play rounders, fly a kite or kick a football around.
    • The lovely stretch of beach is not completely sandy but has lots of beautiful shells and is good enough to build some kind of structure which might resemble a sandcastle.
    • On a sunny day the children can play in the water. In front of the car park, the water is shallow for quite a while. There are signs further away from the car park warning for currents so check for signs.
    • When the tide is out, a sandbank appears, sticking out into the Solent. You will see many people appearing to be walking out into the sea but are really just exploring the sandbank.
    • You can spot many varieties of birds at Lepe Point, which is a nature reserve within the park. There is a handy sign with many birds and their names on it, which makes it more fun for children.
    • We were lucky enough to see an adder on our first visit to Lepe (there is no guarantee to see one of course, which might be a good thing if you don’t like snakes!)
    • There is a new sensory garden (which we have yet to explore)
    • Dogs are welcome in the Country Park, though not allowed on the family friendly beach which is in front of the beach car park, between April and September.
    • There are lots of things organised at the park. For more details click here
    • It is a cheap day out in the fresh air!

Would we go back to Lepe Country Park?

We have visited Lepe Country Park several times and it has always been lots of fun. There is enough to do to spend an afternoon at Lepe. We have gone for a walk along the beach, the children have collected shells and crabs, have swam in the sea, watched wildlife and had fun in the playpark.

So yes we would recommend Lepe for sure!

If you are looking for a family day out which will not break the bank, then Lepe Country Park in Hampshire might be just the place to go. Fun and Fresh Air guaranteed!
